It is thought to have come from a purebred dog used by the Pygmies for hunting in the Congo. The Basenji is said to be one of the oldest Breeds, with documentation of the first specimens found in ancient Egypt. Curious and playful it is highly prized for its intelligence, speed, and hunting power.
