The American version of the Cocker Spaniel is derived from the English Cocker Spaniel, and is smaller than its English counterpart. Although it is now considered a pet and show dog, the American Cocker has lost none of the hunting instincts distinctive of all Spaniels. This breed was featured in Disney's classic cartoon film Lady and the Tramp, and became world famous. At home the American Cocker makes an ideal pet.
