The Giant Schnauzer is a very fine watch-dog. In German, 'Schnauze' means 'muzzle,' and no name better suits this dog with its bushy hair and full moustache. The Giant was produced in Germany from the Standard Schnauzer, and was used to drive cattle for centuries until the advent of rail transport. In recent years they have gained more headway as a family pet being quite bold and protective of its family.
