The Weimaraner or “Silver Ghost” is said to have been purpose-bred as a gundog in central Germany in the early 19th century by the Grand Duke Karl August of Weimar. Early Weimaraners were used by royalty for hunting large game such as boar, bears, deer, and foxes. The Weimaraner is good-natured and distinctive looking. It excels in obedience and agility and makes a fine pet and fearless guardian of his family.
